High Volume of Complaints Against Telecommunications Companies Becomes the New Norm

Money Compare Suggests Kiwiws Switch to Telecommunications Providers with Great Customer Service
Thursday, 9 May 2024

According to a free dispute-resolution, there has been a high number of complaints against telecommunication companies. So much so, that the volume of complaints has become the new normal.

The Telecommunications Dispute Resolution (TDR) service received 1925 complaints in the last 6 months of 2023.

TDR chairman, Barry Jordan, said, “This is on par with the same period in 2022 when 1921 consumers raised a complaint with TDR and almost nine per cent higher than the first six months in 2023 where 1770 Kiwis got in touch with us for assistance resolving a phone or internet issue.”

This new normal of complaints comes as the consequences of the cost of living continue to squeeze our budgets, and aggravate stress for many everyday Kiwis. Furthermore, the TDR report comes at a time where telecommunications companies are restructuring their businesses. Many of them are reducing staff numbers, while also upgrading online resources and self-service options. Many customer service teams are reportedly under a lot of stress and while the report records complaints that have escalated to disputes, it is a good indicator of the volume of dissatisfied customers out there. If you are having issues with your current broadband, power or mobile provider, the good news is, you don’t have to stick with them. Avoid further dispute, and the dreaded loyalty tax, by switching to a provider that is renowned in communities for its top-notch customer service

Each year, we host the NZ Compare Awards, which are designed to reward retailers who have the best customer service. Winners of this include Now and Contact
